Whistler is most famous for there peak to peak gondola that stretches 4.4km/2.73miles and is 436 meters and 1427 feet at its highest point. Whistler was named "Whistler" because of the marmot that lived there which whistled when it communicated. Whistler has two main out door activities that are biking and skiing/snow boarding.
With over 8,100 acres of snow covered slopes, 16 alpine bowls, 3 glaciers, world class terrain parks and half pipes and 200 or more marked trails for all ability levels. A major lift expansion in 2013/2014 put Whistler Blackcomb as the best in big mountain ski destination in north America. Whistler was the Number One Ski Resort of 2014/2015 in North America voted by readers of SKI Magazines.
